Those of us who DON’T have unlimited data have all been there. You get an alert that you’re running low on data for the month. And you start obsessing over it.
Turns out, one of the apps that can use the MOST data is Facebook Messenger, particularly if you use that, instead of text, as your main method of communication.
Facebook is beta testing – and soon rolling out for both Android and iOS – a data saving mode for Messenger. When you’re off Wifi, and on cellular data, the app will allow you to select WHICH media you download from messages – pics, audio, video, etc.
And it will also have a “counter” to show how much data you’ve saved with the feature.
