If you’re a kid of the ’90s, then chances are you were just a little obsessed with the Disney Channel Original Movie, Halloweentown.
Admit it, we all wished that our super cool grandma would drop (literally) into town to tell us that we’re actually witches, and it’s time to start our training.
The movie was so popular, in fact, that it yielded three sequels: Halloweentown 2: Kalabar’s Revenge, Halloweentown High and Return to Halloweentown.
In all but the final installment, actress Kimberly J. Brown played teen witch Marnie Piper, who had a serious love of “weird stuff” even before she found out she had magical powers.
However, the popular DCOM wasn’t Brown’s first foray into the acting world.
She appeared in several TV shows and movies throughout her younger years, voicing Dot in A Bug’s Life, appearing as Annie in the mini-series Rose Red, and playing Marah Lewis on Guiding Light from 1998-2006, which earned her a Daytime Emmy nomination in 1996.
These days, Brown doesn’t do much acting, but she did release a children’s book this August entitled Poppins Pumpkin Patch Parade.
And she definitely hasn’t forgotten her roots!
I'm so excited to finally be able to show you guys these! This is probably my favorite quote from #halloweentown and the one that is most often recited to me by fans. I am a huge fan of a fitted simple graphic tee so I had these made! You can find them in my etsy store: craftilycreative.etsy.com (the code MAGIC will still get you 10% off any order🙂
The 31-year-old has been appearing at The Spirit of Halloweentown festival in St. Helens, Oregon for the last couple of years, which happens to be the town where the first movie was filmed.
Thanks for keeping the magic alive, Marnie!
I think you can see magic everywhere if you're looking for it…so I designed this shirt! It's a printed white graphic of my actual handwriting on a soft black t-shirt and is available in my etsy shop.
