When it comes to the Kim Kardashian robbery in Paris, police are thinking that someone gave the thieves some inside information.
At the time of the incident, during which Kardashian was bound, gagged and held in a bathtub while five armed assailants made off with roughly $10 million in her jewelry, the 35-year-old reality TV star was oddly without security.
That’s because her regular bodyguard was out with her sisters Kourtney Kardashian and Kendall Jenner at a Paris nightclub, as Kim reportedly felt secure enough to stay in their hotel.
However, police are suspicious about how the robbers gained entry into Kardashian’s actual room, making them wonder if the whole thing was an inside job.
“Detectives are satisfied that the robbers could have easily tricked their way into Kardashian’s apartment block, [but] it is not clear how they got into her actual flat,” an insider told Us Weekly. “The baffling part of the inquiry is how the robbers got into the apartment. Of course it’s possible they tricked their way in, but at that time of the [early morning] it’s unclear who actually opened the door.”
“We are dealing with a young woman who was practically alone with a hugely valuable amount of jewelry,” the source continued. “She would never open the door in the middle of the night in these circumstances, so who did if it wasn’t opened with a key? There were no signs of forced entry, but there’s also no proof that a key was used.”
Previously, reports stated that the five suspects attacked the concierge in order to enter the apartment, but it’s unknown how they knew she would be without her bodyguard.
Thankfully, Kardashian was not physically harmed during the incident, but she’s apparently still suffering from a great deal of emotional trauma, and plans to scale way back on public appearances and her use of social media.
“[She will have] a much heavier security team,” a source told People. “There will be a focus on security personnel who aren’t in traditional clothing. There will be a lot more undercover security.”
