This afternoon I went to Kalamata Grill in Troy when I noticed the same sign I’ve been seeing all over Royal Oak, Ferndale, and Troy since early summer.
But this situation is a bit different than most.
Mckenzie’s owner was on site at Kalamata and explained to me that she’s been getting calls from people SEEING Mckenzie but not actually being able to catch her. So they’re aware she’s alive and out there, they’re just having a hard time getting a hold of her before she takes off.
According to the Facebook page made for Finding Mckenzie (HERE), this is what happened:
“Our girl McKenzie (Mac) hopped the fence at a friend’s house in Ferndale on 6/22 after being spooked by fireworks. There were some initial sightings in Royal Oak, and over the next few weeks, multiple sightings in Troy. We were hoping she was trying to get home (Rochester/Long Lake area), but the Troy sightings have all been on the other side of I-75 between Long Lake/Coolidge and Maple/Livernois.
WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP
Now we need to use other methods of getting our contact info out there in case someone spots her.
The following are ways you can help us do that:
1. Share this group on Facebook and Twitter #BringMacBack
2. Share Mac’s For the Love of Louie link:
3. For those that live in the area (Troy and surrounding cities), you can help by posting flyers at any of the following: on your car, mailbox, garbage can, your place of employment, in your neighborhood on private property, local businesses, and anywhere else where someone who might see Mac could possible see the flyer (flyers can be accessed under the “Files” tab, or can be picked up
4. We have setup a donation page. Any donations not used will be re-donated to local animal rescue groups that have helped us over the last few weeks.
Finally, thanks for your interest in McKenzie and for helping us bring her home safely. She is part of our family, and we miss her deeply.”
The problem they’re having with finding Mckenzie is that she keeps getting scared and running away. The owners advise to NOT CHASE HER, use calm and soothing voices and actions and tempt with food if available.
