The news broke earlier today that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were splitting after over ten years together and two years of marriage.
According to TMZ, Jolie was the one to file for divorce, citing the ever-popular “irreconcilable differences.”
Now, the actress’s manager Geyer Kosinski has addressed the split, along with Jolie’s request for full physical custody of the couple’s six kids.
“Angelina will always do what’s in the best interest to protect her children,” Kosinski told E! News in a statement. “She appreciates everyone’s understanding of their need for privacy at this time.”
Meanwhile, Jolie’s attorney Robert Offer added that her decision to file for divorce was made “for the health of the family.”
An update from TMZ, who originally broke the story, also states that Jolie is tired of Pitt’s alleged drug and alcohol habits, and feels his “anger problem” has put their children in danger.
Meanwhile, other rumors have swirled that Pitt cheated on Jolie with his Allied co-star Marion Cotillard.
“She hired a private eye because she felt that he was fooling around with her on the set, and it turns out, he was. And that was the final straw,” a source told Page Six.
Still, TMZ maintains that it was only Pitt’s relationship with their children that led to Jolie’s decision to file for divorce, and there was no “third person” involved.
