Ellen DeGeneres Responds After her Usain Bolt was Deemed Racist

One of Ellen DeGeneres‘s latest tweets has caused quite a stir online.

Yesterday, the famed talk show host posted an edited photo that featured her riding on the back of Jamaican sprinter, Usain Bolt.

“This is how I’m running errands from now on,” she captioned the pic.

The original image, which appears to show Bolt smiling for the camera as he pulls ahead of his competitors, was taken at the men’s 100-meter semifinal on Sunday in Rio, and later went viral.

Although the photo received the meme treatment by thousands of internet users, many thought that DeGeneres’s edit took things too far, and they aired their grievances on social media.

In the wake of the backlash, the comedian returned to Twitter to defend herself, writing, “I am highly aware of the racism that exists in our country. It is the furthest thing from who I am.”
