Is Elena returning to Mystic Falls?
Rumors are surfacing that Nina Dobrev, who left the show last year after season 6, may be in talks to make an appearance in the finale season.
Mark Pedowitz, president of The CW, dropped some heavy hints about Dobrev’s possible return during the 2016 TCA Summer Press Tour this week.
“We collectively came to the same place,” Pedowitz said of the end of TVD. “We backed [co-creator] Julie [Plec] in her decision…there are discussions going on with Nina, we’d love to have her back…These are discussions that go on, hopefully she’ll be back, but should it not work out, Julie has planned out a great series finale for fans.”
Pedowitz said that Dobrev could even be back for more than just the series finale. When asked how long Elena’s episode arc might be, he replied, “as many as Julie thinks she needs her for.”
“I always like to have Nina. Who doesn’t like to have Nina on the show? She was a great person to have. She was a great spokesperson for The CW and for The Vampire Diaries,” he added. “She made a career decision that, for her, was probably the right decision but we’d love to have her back. But again, if it cannot work out, Julie will take care to have a really satisfactory series finale.”
As of now, Nina Dobrev has not commented on the rumors of her return.
