Kendall Jenner just got very candid about her father’s transition.
In her cover story with Vogue, the 20-year-old reality TV star-turned-super model spoke about Caitlyn Jenner at great length, and admitted the hardest thing she’s had to come to terms with since her dad revealed she was transgender.
“It’s super ironic to think about now, but it’s something I can thank my dad for: how much of a tomboy I was,” Jenner explained. “That’s why I think the whole thing—her transition—was really hard for me, because I was like, ‘But you taught me everything tomboy!'”
The Keeping Up with the Kardashians starlet also admitted that she still mixes up her gender pronouns, and the learning process has been constant.
And while she says that things between her and her dad are now “super normal” and “not weird at all” these days, she still does get emotional about the situation from time to time.
“Sometimes I look at a picture of my dad when she was a guy, and it makes me a little sad—I get emotional,” she added. “You have to get past it—you’ve got a new person to love. It’s kind of a blessing in disguise—if that’s not the wrong way to say it.”
