Former Child Star Mara Wilson Sheds Important Light On Depression And Anxiety In This [Video]

This week (May 11-17) is Mental Health Awareness Week. A nonprofit organization called PROJECT UROK, features videos and voices of anyone (even you!) that would want to contribute thoughts, help, or light on mental health issues that so many of us deal with.

And still to this day, I maintain that Matilda was my favorite movie. Mara Wilson, the actress who played Matilda at just 6-years-old, was extraordinarily intelligent then and she still is.

Since her days of Matilda, Mrs. Doubtfire, and her other films that made us fall in love with her, Wilson has given up the big screen.

Now, she mostly identifies as a writer, is hilarious on Twitter, and has a well-known blog (with a hilarious FAQ, I might add).

But like most of us at some point, Mara has dealt with her hand of anxiety and depression. In a near 5 minute video for Project UROK , she explains that she is an anxious person and how she copes with it.

I love love love this. I also deal with anxiety and even just hearing someone else speak about going through it helps!

Again, it is Mental Health Awareness Week, just a reminder- make sure you take care of yourself and others. 🙂

Here’s a list of different hotline numbers that could potentially help you or others in need.
