It’s been a grim year for EDM events, with death, hospitalizations and drug overdoses plaguing the latest editions of Electric Daisy Carnival, HARD Summer, Avicii concerts in Toronto and Boston among others.

After tragedy struck the popular Mad Decent Block Party during a tour stop in Maryland that resulted in two deaths and a slew of hospitalizations, event organizers implemented a slew of extra safety measures for the show in Brooklyn, N.Y., banning a wide range of items including unopened tampons and stuffed animals.

Moving forward, the tour has also outlawed “kandi,” the brightly colored beaded jewelry often sported and traded by ravers at parties.
