Justin Bieber may have indirectly saved one person’s life this week.

According to The Austrian Times, a 42-year-old man named Igor Vorozhbitsyn had been fishing in northern Russia when he was violently attacked by a brown bear.

Things really didn’t look good, but then, Igor received a call and the bear suddenly ran off, apparently spooked by the sudden sound.

The ringtone? Justin Bieber’s “Baby.”

“I couldn’t believe my luck when the phone went off and he fled,” Vorozhbitsyn told The Austrian Times. “I know that sort of ringtone isn’t to everyone’s taste but my granddaughter loaded it onto my phone for a joke.”

Vorozhbitsyn proceeded to use his cell phone to call for help and was eventually rescued. He suffered several lacerations and bruises to his arms, chest, ribs and face, but thankfully, he’s alive!

“Sometimes a sharp shock can stop an angry bear in its tracks and that ringtone would be a very unexpected sound for a bear,” one expert explained of the animal’s sudden departure.

Whether or not those chances increase if the sound is that of a Justin Bieber song remains unknown.
