It’s a rough time to be a fan of a certain syrupy breakfast food…especially if you’re also a big fan of soccer and the FIFA World Cup!

To support team USA in their upcoming match against Belgium, which is set for today (July 1), Waffle House has called for a boycott.

The restaurant started the movement yesterday morning on Twitter to ban ‘Belgium’ waffles, though they were quickly corrected by a follower who pointed out that it they are actually called Belgian waffles.

Oops!

Despite the flub, many have already rallied behind Waffle House in their mission to ban the carb-loaded breakfast food, despite its deliciousness!

However, as many diehard Waffle House patrons know, the restaurant has never actually had the waffle of the enemy on their menu.

“We’ve never served Belgian waffles at Waffle House, and we just want to support team USA,” a Waffle House spokesperson told Today. “It’s just supposed to be really fun, and we want to just stand behind Team USA.”

Let’s go team USA! Load up on those American waffles before the match today!!
