When you’re the child of a famous singer, you already live under a microscope with tons of pressure.

R&B singer R. Kelly, 37, reportedly isn’t taking the news very well that his 13-year-old daughter Jaya is now a transgender boy who wishes to be called Jay.  His mother Drea Kelly is said to completely support all of this.

In an interview on the website Ask.fm, Jay was speaking out about his dad’s lack of support when he stated, “I’m transgender and the son of r.kelly.”

After Jay’s brave confession, his dad was slow to embrace the moment. When he was asked about his daughter’s transformation by a Chicago radio station, Kelly had this to say (via New York Daily News) :

“You don’t really wanna open it up by saying my daughter is becoming my son, because if that were true… Don’t even give the blogs that kind of credit. You know what I’m saying? Real talk.”

In the end, Kelly said he didn’t want to address the news and implied that the report was inaccurate in some way.
“As far as that’s concerned, always believe what you see — with your own eyes that is,” he told the hosts. “Always believe what you see. That’s the best way to go about this business. I’ve heard a lot of things about a lot of people, and it was never true.”

If the reports are true, then hopefully over time R. Kelly will get over it and learn to love his child for who he is.

What do you think of R. Kelly’s comments?
