After a long hiatus, Hilary Duff is making her big return to television this year with the new TVLand show Younger.
The show chronicles the life of Liza (Sutton Foster); a single mom in her 40s who gets a job as an assistant at a magazine office by pretending to be 26.
Duff plays Kelsey – one of Liza’s coworkers who actually is in her 20s and inadvertently helps to teach her the ropes of being a Millennial.
And it definitely seems as though the show will help guide Duff, a former Disney sweetheart, into more adult roles, as the material and humor is certainly a bit more mature than the likes of Lizzie McGuire:
Foster is best known for her work on Broadway, but she also starred in the short-lived ABC Family series Bunheads where she played a semi washed-up dancer/singer who took solace in a small town as a ballet teacher.
With Foster’s musical background and Duff’s singing career, we sure are hoping to see a couple of duets in Younger, even if it’s just a karaoke scene!
Meanwhile, a premiere date has not yet been set for the comedy, though it’s expected to debut sometime this year.
