Lea Michele famously comes from an Italian background, and in her new book Brunette Ambition, she discusses some of her family’s traditions.
…including one in which she basically started drinking as a toddler!
During a recent interview on Chelsea Lately, host Chelsea Handler of course couldn’t help but to question the Glee star about that portion of her book, though Michele was happy to explain.
“I’m Italian, so at the dinner table it would be like Pellegrino, a jug of soda and a huge thing of wine,” the singer/actress remembers (via E! News). “Everyone was just drinking wine, like it was part of what you would have along with your dinner. Growing up, I’d be having dinner with my boyfriend and his parents and I’d be like, ‘Where’s the wine? Pass the wine.’ At like 17! And they’re like, ‘This girl’s crazy.’”
Michele also attributes drinking casually at an early age to her not overdoing it in her later years, as she says, “When they make it so you can have it, then you don’t want it. It’s when they’re like, ‘You can’t have this,’ kids are like, ‘We gotta get that booze.’”
