What if you were looking through your yearbook and discovered your photo had been altered…without your knowledge?
That’s exactly what happened to several female students at Utah’s Wasatch High School this week! According to Buzzfeed, some of the Photoshop edits included arms being covered by sleeves, necklines being raised and even tattoos being removed.
However, it wasn’t just the act of being edited that bothered the students, but the fact that it seemed so inconsistent.
“I feel like they put names in a hat and pick and choose who,” sophomore Rachel Russel explained to Fox 13. “There were plenty of girls that were wearing thicker tank tops and half of them got edited and half of them didn’t.”
In an official statement, Wasatch County Superintendent Terry Shoemaker said:
“We only apologize in the sense that we want to be more consistent with what we’re trying to do in that sense we can help kids better prepare for their future by knowing how to dress appropriately for things.”
