Yesterday (May 5), Joey Neutron from The Coop Show spoke on the phone to the one and only, Jennifer Lopez!
During the interview, the two chatted about J-Lo’s latest studio album AKA, including her lead-off single “First Love,” which the multi-talented artist describes as a Max Martin-produced “Happy, pop love song.”
Regarding the record and how it stands apart from her previous music, Lopez tells Joey, “It’s different because I went on my first world tour right before I did this album, and I think I just grew so much. As a person, emotionally, but it was just such a transitional and crazy year…and I also grew as a vocalist from being on tour for the first time.”
“It’s funny that it’s my tenth album,” she continues, “because as much as it’s ten albums in, it’s a new beginning.”
Joey and Jennifer also talked about the Billboard Music Awards, at which the singer is set to be honored with the Icon Award, putting her in the ranks of Prince, Stevie Wonder and Neil Diamond.
“I believe I’m the first woman to get [the award]” Lopez says. “Sometimes everything seems so surreal. It’s great. I couldn’t be happier.”
Finally, the two talked TV, touching on American Idol as well as Jennifer’s latest project as producer of the upcoming NBC drama Shades of Blue, which she teases is about “dirty cops.”
