Gillian’s Obsession: Asparagus
Now this obsession is a little different, but I just had to talk about it. Asparagus has become a huge part of diet ever since I started trying to lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle. It is known as one of the worlds healthiest foods and here are the top reasons why:
1. Asparagus can improve blood pressure, regulate blood sugar and better control of blood fat levels.
2. Asparagus contains a good amount of unique carb that helps with digestion.
3. It has a ton of antioxidants which means it is risk reducer for certain cancers.
***And one of my favorite things***
4. Asparagus is a natural diuretic…which means it makes you pee. I prefer to eat it if I know I’m going to a wedding or event because it helps get rid of excess water weight if you have to fit into a tight dress or something.
I’ve incorporated it into my diet in a few really delicious recipes. It’s really great just roasted with olive oil, salt and pepper but I’ve also created this really flavorful, lowfat cream of asparagus soup that really cheap and easy. Check them out on my instagram @itsGillian987
