Yesterday (April 29) Disney announced the Episode VII cast, and Star Wars fans everywhere celebrated the news! How amazing it is to have Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher reprising their 1977 roles?! Being the younger sister of two brothers who were Star Wars freaks, the whole franchise was a big part of my childhood.
CNN reports that the movie is scheduled to open around the world on December 18, 2015 and I have to believe this is going to be one of the biggest movies ever! Of course, we’ve had all the Marvel movies, Harry Potter, and the Pirates of the Caribbean franchises in recent years, but Stars Wars is to movies like the Beatles are to music: untouchable!
Along with the veteran actors, Episode VII is also set to feature a few unknowns, like Daisy Ridley who is rumored to be the role of Han Solo and Princess Leia’s daughter, according to Hollywood Life. Also new to the galaxy far, far away are John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow. Original trilogy stars Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Bake will also reportedly return!
“We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII,” director J.J. Abrams said in a statement (via StarWars.com). “It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud.”
