Justin Bieber is allegedly being held at the Los Angeles airport after flying back to the US from an international trip, Us Weekly reports.
The 20-year-old pop star apparently arrived at the airport from a recent trip to Asia around 1pm PST today (April 24), having flown in from Japan via Singapore Air, after which he was detained. US Weekly states that Bieber’s bodyguards are currently planted outside LAX, waiting for him to be released.
While it remains unclear exactly why the singer is being held, TMZ alleges that it’s related to his recent series legal issues.
Sources have reportedly told the gossip site that Bieber is being intensely questioned during a secondary customs search, due to the fact that he currently has “open criminal cases.”
We will post updates as they continue to develop.
The news comes just several days after JB got himself into some hot water while in Japan when he posted a couple of selfies outside the Yaskushi Shrine in Chiyoda. After Instagramming the pictures, Bieber was apparently made aware that the building enshrines over 1,000 war criminals from WWII.
“While in Japan I asked my driver to pull over for which I saw a beautiful shrine,” Bieber later wrote. “I was mislead to think the Shrines were only a place of prayer. To anyone I have offended I am extremely sorry. I love you China and I love you Japan.”
He has since removed the photos from his Instagram page.
