‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ Sequel in the Works!

Before I post this awesome news, can you believe that it’s been 21 years since the original Mrs. Doubtfire movie hit the big screen?

Fox 2000 has teamed up with director Chris Columbus to direct a sequel starring Robin Williams.

The original movie, which was based on the Anne Fine book, has the following IMDB description:

After a bitter divorce, an actor (Robin Williams) disguises himself as a female housekeeper to spend time with his children held in custody by his former wife (Sally Field).

With the huge success of the original (Mrs. Doubtfire raked in an impressive $400 million worldwide) it’s no surprise that Fox 2000 is interested in a sequel. What is a bit surprising is that it’s taken over two decades to happen!

Meanwhile, former child actress Mara Wilson, who portrayed Williams’ youngest daughter in the film, has already confirmed that she will not be taking part in the project.

The Hollywood Reporter first reported the news.
