Monday marked the first Boston Marathon since the tragic bombing happened at the finish line last year. Thankfully, that didn’t cause people to stay away; this was the biggest turn out the Marathon has ever seen.
The horrific events couldn’t even keep Team Hoyt from the race, who were celebrating 37 years running. The story of Dick Hoyt, who competes with his disabled son Rick in marathons and triathlons, specifically the Boston Marathon, has become well known around the country.
This is a story of dedication, love, strength and the bond between a father and son. Dick Hoyt wasn’t a runner and his son Rick is confined to a wheelchair, but that didn’t stop Team Hoyt.
Congrats to Team Hoyt – you’ve inspired many!
