With the sudden and tragic death of Paul Walker, many were left wondering what would happen with his character in the Fast & Furious franchise, as Walker and the rest of the crew had already started work on the seventh installment of the series.
Now, it looks like the actor’s legacy as Brian O’Conner will live on through the help of his family.
According to an announcement made yesterday on the Fast & Furious official Facebook page, Walker’s brothers Cody and Caleb will step in to complete their late sibling’s unfinished scenes.
The post notes that, after much debate, the cast and crew decided that the best way to honor their fallen friend’s memory would be to continue with filming.
“We believe our fans want that, and we believe Paul would want that too,” the note reads. “Paul had already shot his dramatic scenes and most of his action for FAST & FURIOUS 7, and it’s among the strongest work of his career.”
“We have resumed shooting and now welcome Paul’s brothers, Caleb and Cody, into our FAST family. Caleb and Cody are helping us complete some remaining action for their brother and fill in small gaps left in production. Having them on set has made us all feel that Paul is with us too.”
The Facebook post states that the film is expected to be released in a little less than a year and also thanks fans for all of their love and support.
Paul Walker passed away last November following a car crash in California. He was just 40 years old.
