Nick Cannon Wears Whiteface To Promote Forthcoming Album
Nick Cannon is causing some serious controversy while promoting his forthcoming album…
The record, entitled White People Party Music, drops next month, and the rapper/comedian is currently donning ‘whiteface’ while playing a Caucasian character he calls “Connor Smallnut” and posting photos and videos of his antics on Instagram.
A caption of one of Cannon’s Instagram photos reads, “It’s official… I’m White!!! #WHITEPEOPLEPARTYMUSIC #Wppm in stores April 1st!!!!!!Dude Go Get It!!!Join The Party!!!! #GoodCredit #DogKissing #BeerPong #FarmersMarkets #FistPumping #CreamCheeseEating #RacialDraft ‘Bro I got drafted!!’”
Predictably, many feel that Cannon’s latest stunt is not funny, with some calling it “racist” and “ignorant,” though the 33-year-old has already taken to Twitter to battle his criticizers.
“It’s funny how people take themselves so seriously” Cannon wrote in a post today (March 24). “People love drama! We feed off of it. Just relax and have fun!!”
Due to the fact that Cannon’s album is due out on April 1, this could all be a part of some elaborate April Fools’ Day prank. Regardless, if his goal was to get people talking about his new record, then mission accomplished!
