Rap has always been competitive and at times things can get pretty heated between artists in the genre. However, I’m not sure Jay-Z is someone you should mess with…
It all started after Drake made some comments in Rolling Stone Magazine after Macklemore won Best New Rap Artist at the Grammys, but the young rapper’s chatter didn’t stop there! He then proceeded to go after Jay-Z, who is probably the last person Drake should be calling out for a couple different reasons: first, because Drake is reportedly dating Def Jam artist Rihanna and second because he’s Jay-Z!!!
Hov is rapper who’s been in the game a long time and in my opinion, can’t be touched!
Here’s what Drake had to say in the interview.
“It’s like Hov can’t drop bars these days without at least four art references. I would love to collect [art] at some point, but I think the whole rap/art world thing is getting kind of corny.”
First off Jay-Z, can afford to buy art! Rap is about a lifestyle and that’s the life he’s leading these days! Naturally, Jay-Z fired back, using his guest verse on Jay Electronica’s “We Made It” to respond to Drake.
“Sorry Mrs. Drizzy for so much art talk,” Jay Z raps on the track. “Silly me, rappin’ ’bout **** that I really bought / While these rappers rap about guns that they ain’t shot / And a bunch of other silly **** that they ain’t got.”
You can hear Jay-Z verse about at about 1:43. So is this friendly fire or the real deal? What would you do if you were Drake: fire back or let this just fade away?
