Interview: Cash Cash Share The Formula To Writing Dance Music with Great Hooks

By Courtney E. Smith

Cash Cash think it takes more than a hot beat to craft a great dance song. And their latest single “Take Me Home” is proving they may be on to something.

“The cool thing about ‘Take Me Home’ is we actually started on acoustic guitar and piano, the real stripped down version when we were writing it and working out lyrics,” Samuel Frisch told Radio.com. “We always say if a melody can’t stand on acoustic guitar and piano, there’s no reason to electrify it and put all the bells and whistles.”

Frisch, along with bandmate Alex Makhlouf, sat down with Radio.com to chat about their new music, which just so happens to feature everyone from Christina Perri to Capital Cities to John Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls.

The two guys also explained what it’s like playing for college students on the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour. Turns out the co-eds are all pretty hyped up, which may or may not have a little something to do with all the Monster they chug before the show.
