When you think of taking a “selfie,” I’m pretty sure the words “head lice” don’t usually come to mind.
According to Time, professionals are now claiming that when we lean close together to prepare for a selfie, we are not just spreading joy and fun times, we’re also possibly spreading lice!
Marcy McQuillan, who runs two lice-treatment centers in California, said in a recent press release (via SFist.com), “Head lice are spread through head-to-head contact. Lice don’t jump or fly, so you actually have to touch heads. Every teen I’ve treated, I ask about selfies, and they admit that they are taking them every day.”
