Pop superstar Rihanna celebrates a birthday today!

Though the singer is just 26 years old, she has evolved so much since she first hit the scene nearly a decade ago, both in her music and in her fashion sense. As the “Monster” hit maker recently did an interview with Vogue that focused on the latter, we’re taking a look back at the evolution of Rihanna’s now-iconic style, from 2005 through today!

2005 – The Teen People Listening Lounge

At 17-years-old, Rihanna looks fresh-faced and full of life while posing with Teairra Mari at the Teen People Listening Lounge. With her long, wavy hair, a crop top and yes, a belly chain, Ri-Ri truly resembles a young artist that is just breaking into the industry.

About a year later, Rihanna can be seen embracing an edgier look, having chopped her hair into a bob and dying it jet black. Her clothing also shows signs of moving toward her look today, with heels, a bolder top and chunky jewelry.
