Selena Gomez Releases First Statement Since Leaving Rehab

The drama currently attached to Justin Bieber was seemingly extended to his ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez last month when she entered rehab, allegedly for exhaustion.

Since the surprising news broke, Gomez and her camp have been staying mostly tight-lipped on the situation, though amid rumors of drug and alcohol abuse, one of the singer’s reps did release the following statement: “Selena voluntarily spent time at Meadows but not for substance abuse,” (via People).

Gomez, 21, quietly checked herself into the Dawn at the Meadows recovery center in Wickenburg, AZ at the beginning of last month, according to RadarOnline.com. The former Disney starlet proceeded to stay at the facility for roughly 14 days, but allegedly left treatment several weeks early, despite reported protests from the staff.

Prior to entering rehab, the singer abruptly canceled the Australian leg of her Stars Dance tour, citing a need to “spend some time” on herself.

Now, Gomez has released her first statement to fans since leaving treatment, taking to Instagram yesterday to post a serene-looking photo of herself on a boat with the caption, “I’ve done everything I could to the best of my ability. Thank you for the unconditional love and cyber hugs. You inspire me.”

We hope that Selena continues to recover from what sounds like a stressful few months and comes out of the situation feeling better than ever!
