In the name of science, volunteers are getting the flu virus shot straight up their nose. Researchers are trying to find a better flu vaccine and one way they’re figuring out how to do that is by paying people $3,000 to get a little virus up their nose according to realclear.com.
Volunteers need to be healthy and under 50 and they will be put into quarantine for nine days after getting infected. While in quarantine they can play games, watch TV, and study. Scientists then track how these younger, healthier people fight off the flu after being exposed to it and they’re hoping those findings will help them make better flu vaccines.
Sure there are vaccines now, but they aren’t as consistent as people would like. Would you take the $3,000 in exchange for the virus?
