Six of the Most Talked-About Moments From This Year’s Grammy Awards
We already know the winners and we’ve seen and discussed the performances, so now, we’re taking a look back at some of the other Most Talked-About Moments of the 56th Annual Grammy Awards!
Pharrell’s Hat Takes Over the World…Or At Least the Majority of his Head
Pharrell’s large, Mounty-like piece of headwear was so widely talked about during the Grammys that it quickly got its own Twitter handle. As of now, @Pharrellhat has over 15,000 followers.
At least Pharrell had a place to keep all those trophies he won!
Jamie Foxx Awkwardly Hits on Beyoncé
While presenting the award for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, Jamie Foxx seemingly went off-the-cuff during his introduction of Jay Z and Justin Timberlake’s “Holy Grail” when he discussed what every already knows: Beyoncé is one hot mom.
Adding to the awkwardness, Jay Z and Timberlake actually won the award! Luckily, Mr. Carter kept his cool once he got on stage and simply joked that daughter Blue Ivy would now have a “gold sippy cup” as he held up his Grammy.
Steven Tyler Looks Like a Little Bit Like Jack Sparrow
During Imagine Dragons and Kendrick Lamar’s powerful performance of “Radioactive”/ “M.a.a.d. City,” there was little that could direct one’s attention away from the stage…until the camera cut to Steven Tyler.
The Aerosmith frontman was sporting some seriously strange facial hair, along with a ‘do that made him look a little bit like pirate Jack Sparrow.
Tyler and his mustache later performed what seemed like an impromptu version of Smokey Robinson’s “You Really Got a Hold of Me” whilst he and Robinson presented the award for Record of the Year.
Needless to say, the whole thing was a bit odd…
Taylor Swift Cuts a Rug, Thinks She Won Best Album
All-in-all, Taylor Swift appeared to be having a fabulous night!
She looked gorgeous, rocked her performance of “All Too Well” (which was complete with some head-banging) and showed off her signature dorky dance moves throughout the show, per usual.
The only bump in the road came when Alicia Keys was announcing the winner of Album of the Year…and it looked like Swift momentarily thought she won.
For a split second, Tay Tay’s jaw dropped in awe and her entourage went crazy, until they realized Keys had said “Random Access Memories” and not “Red.” Oops.
“I” Before “E” Except After “C”…and Except in “Monteith”
During the Grammys’ yearly “In Memoriam” segment, Glee fans cried foul.
As the name of the late Cory Monteith appeared on the screen, it became apparent that it had been misspelled – a blunder that was captured via photo by several Twitter and Instagram users and quickly went viral.
Queen Latifah Marries 33 Couples On-Stage During “Same Love” Performance
During Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’s performance of “Same Love,” which also featured Mary Lambert and Madonna, 33 couples of all walks of life were married. Singer/actress Queen Latifah, who is an ordained minister in the state of California, performed the ceremony and it’s safe to say there were very few dry eyes in the audience.
