It looks like Justin Bieber is going to be without his iPhone for a bit!
According to recent reports from CNN and the New York Daily News, Bieber’s cell phone was confiscated by police when the singer’s Calabasas home was searched earlier this week in response to a recent act of vandalism.
Bieber and friends are suspected of causing upwards of $20,000 worth of damage to his neighbor’s house after a reported egging last Thursday (January 9).
Following the search of his home, Bieber’s buddy/roommate Lil Za was arrested for alleged drug possession, and was later cuffed a second time after supposedly vandalizing a phone in the jailhouse. Both of those offenses and the egging could all be considered felonies.
Meanwhile, TMZ reports that the Biebs was apparently worried about what the cops would find after looking through his phone, such as alleged drug references and nude photos.
However, Lt. David Thompson of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department assures that the police are only investigating the egging incident.
“We’re looking for images or information related to the egging. Nothing else is getting out. It’s safe in the hands of law enforcement,” Lt. Thompson told the NY Daily News.
Upon the search, police also reportedly seized the security system in Bieber’s home in hopes they might see the prank in progress.
“[The security system] might show people walking out of the house at the time of the egging and then coming back with an egg carton,” Lt. Thompson explained to the NY Daily News. “That would enhance the case. If it doesn’t, then it will be up to the District Attorney.
