Beyonce made history last week when she secretly dropped a new album on iTunes, selling almost a million copies in just three days.

One Republic front man Ryan Tedder produced “XO”, the new single from Beyonce off her self-titled album. Get this Beyonce’s new album was so secret, Tedder found out the album was coming out just 90 minutes before it dropped.

He said:

“I knew 90 minutes before it dropped. Ninety minutes. And I said nothing because I love Beyonce and I don’t want her to hate me.”

“I heard a rumor and then I didn’t say anything. I told my wife, ‘I think Beyonce’s album is dropping in 90 minutes,’ and then I knew that ‘XO’ was on the album. I knew it was a single. I didn’t know if it was first or second. I didn’t know anything, and then I found out that it was the lead.”

“Me and my whole band, who are just complete skeptics and like, you know, a bit snobby, we just sat there. Like somehow we have to step our game up and be more like Beyonce.”

One Republic is heading out on the road next year to support its 2013 album “Native.” They are doing that with a coast-to-coast summer tour. The tour starts May 28th and wraps June 29th. The Script will support the band on all dates including June 21st at DTE.
