No surprise that Eminem took home Artist of the Year at the first ever YouTube music awards Sunday night at New York City’s Pier 36. But it was the Korean girl group, Girls’Generation that stunned the crowd. They’re the Asian version of the Spice Girls, and Girls’Generation beat out Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga with their video, “I Got a Boy.” Check it out!
The award ceremony was streamed live over the Internet and highlight the growing reality that people turn to the internet to watch and discover music and video’s. Here’s an interesting fact. According to Variety magazine, at most 220,000 people watched the event online, and that’s nothing close to the 10.1 million who tuned in for the MTV Video and Music Awards in August. See Eminem and Lady Gaga’s performance below.
I didn’t watch the show and it’s getting mixed reviews. It will be interesting to see if they bring it back next year. Did you watch and if so what did you think?
