Update (July 11, 6:35 p.m. ET): According to a Durex representative, the condom company and Daft Punk have not collaborated on an official “Get Lucky” line of prophylactics, despite rumors to the contrary.
“There is no Durex promotion or partnership with Daft Punk in the U.S. or any other markets and Durex is not posting free packs to the world’s top DJs as suggested,” the Durex rep told MTV News. “However, we do hope that by using Durex condoms, music-lovers will continue to make sweet music together and have great sex!”
Daft Punk not only want you to get lucky this summer, but want to make sure you stay safe doing it.
The French electronic duo has teamed up with condom brand Durex to release a “Get Lucky” brand of prophylactics, according to NME. The box features the “Get Lucky” single art of Daft Punk, Nile Rodgers and Pharrell standing in front of the sun, which is a shot from the song’s video.
There’s no word yet on when the condoms will go on sale to the general public, but in a slick advertising move, Durex has been sending DJs free samples. And it seems they’ve got a fan in Diplo, who posted a photo of the opened box to Instagram with the message, “Thank god I had those Daft Punk condoms last night.” He might have just come up with the perfect tagline.
Along with their new condoms, the guys are also hawking a line of action figures.
According to Consequence of Sound, the six-inch figurines are modeled after the duo’s latest outfits for Random Access Memories. The toys were created by Bandai and Japan’s S.H. Figuarts and were reportedly created with help from the guys — Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo — themselves. Fans in North America can pick themselves up a set of Daft Punk figures (each are sold separately, not as a duo) on December 27.
