Radio Feedback: Carly Rae Jepsen’s Vomit-Inducing First Time On The Radio

Welcome to Radio Feedback, Radio.com’s weekly feature where we ask artists to wax nostalgic on the first time they heard themselves on the radio.

Every artist remembers the first time they heard themselves on the radio, but not many of them can say it made them throw up. Carly Rae Jepsen sat down with Radio.com and spilled the beans (yup, we said it) on what happened the first time she heard herself on the radio.

The second we asked Jepsen if she remembered her first time, a glint came into her eye and a sly smile spread across her face. “Yes,” the singer replied, “but it is not G-rated. I’ll tell you and you can use it if you want.”

Even with that caveat, we had no idea what kind of story we’d be getting into.

Jepsen set the scene, explaining that she’d been out with friends that night and had tried gin martinis for the first time.

“I’d had very little experience with alcohol all together at this point, so [I] was sort of like, ‘Well is it kind of like a beer?’ Which it’s not, my friends! Don’t have three gin martinis if you’re 5’2″ and about 100 pounds because it’s not going to sit well.”
