A Michigan couple is in some hot water for having a pet deer in their house.
The deer’s mother was hit and killed by a car five years ago. As she was dying, she gave birth to two fawns. One died, and the other one was in rough shape.
They asked the cops if they could try to save the deer, and the officer said they could try but the fawn would most likely die. It’s been five years and the deer (Lilly) has been living with them the entire time.
A neighbor recently called the DNR and reported them, and the couple was told it’s illegal to raise a deer as a pet in your home. There are two options for the deer: to be rehabilitated into the wild, or put down. The homeowners have no say in it.
They’ve hired an attorney hoping they can find a way to keep their pet. Click here to see the family.
