Michigan Judge Holds Himself In Contempt For His Smartphone

This is what happens when ‘Keeping it real, goes wrong.’ A judge in Ionia, Michigan about 2 hours outside of Detroit, held himself in contempt after his smartphone went off and disrupted a hearing.

The judge Raymond Voet’s posted policy at the court stating that electronic devices causing a disturbance during court sessions will result in the owner being cited with contempt,

During a closing argument of a trial, the judge accidentally bumped his smartphone and it began requesting phone voice commands.

He held himself in contempt and paid $25 for the infraction. I think we could all learn something for the Honorable Judge Raymond Voet.
