April 15th is fast approaching and if you haven’t registered your pet you have until the April 2nd deadline to do so.  The Michigan Pet Tax voted on in November goes into effect on April 15th.  Find out what you need to do to get your pets registered.

Michigan is phasing in new and innovative ideas for the local economy and its proprietors to thrive in todays climate.  The “Michigan Pet Tax” was voted on in November and will help all Michigan counties in these tough economic times. This reform will substantially reduce compliance and administrative costs for businesses and will be especially attractive to manufacturers who rely on expensive capital investments in tools and other equipment.

Beginning April 15, 2013, purchasers or receivers of all animals are required to pay a sales tax to the state of Michigan based on their pets weight.
