School Punishes Texting Students With A 2 Week Suspension

I remember when I was in high school, you couldn’t even have a pager in school. Now kids have iPhones, iPad’s and probably have no idea what a pager even is.

A high school in Louisville has banned texting and if kids get busted, they automatically get a two week suspension. The principal says the strict cell phone policy helps to maintain a college like environment on the school campus. If students get caught texting… their phone gets taken away for 30 days — or — they get a 10 day suspension.

Do school’s in Metro Detroit implement this system and if not, should they? I mean, a 2 week suspension for texting seems like a pretty long time. What do you think?
