Former Detroit Pistons Guard Now Making 14k A Year As Crossing Guard
Former NBA star and Basketball Hall of Famer Adrian Dantley is now a crossing guard in his hometown of Silver Spring, Maryland. Dantley has worked an hour a day as a crossing guard outside a middle school and elementary school since last September… he gets paid more than $14,000 a year.
He says he’s not broke and does the job because he enjoys helping young children. He plans on doing the job for the next 20 years. Dantley played 15 seasons in the NBA and retired in 1991. In 2010, he filled in as acting head coach of the Denver Nuggets while George Karl was fighting cancer.
I remember when I was in middle school, I was asked to be part of the ‘Safety Patrol’. There was no money involved, but man did I enforce that ‘no running’ rule.
