The Next Super Bowl May Have No Halftime Show
Don’t place your bets yet on who will top Beyonce’s halftime show next year. There may not even be a halftime show! Imagine that, it would just be a football game… weird!
The next Super Bowl is happening at New Jersey’s Meadowlands stadium, which will mark the first time the big game will be played in an outdoor stadium. This could potentially could call for frigid temps, which means it may be too cold for a performance. “It’s not only the acts and the singers, but (also) the crews that have to put the stage together,” a planning source explained to the New York Post<. Then why did they pick an outdoor stadium… oh wait it's a football game not a concert. As much as I love a music, it doesn't make or break watching the game for me.
The whole performance is supposed to move quickly, and "you just can’t assemble the stage and break it down fast enough in the cold," the source says. And "there's no plan right now of what to do in its place." It's not just the halftime show that's a problem, insiders say. "There are a thousand things we didn’t think about," notes one. "The NFL is freaking out … because they’ve never done a cold-weather Super Bowl," adds another. Everything from transportation to postponement policies could cause trouble. Officials are already reserving huge quantities of plows and rock salt, the Post reports.
We managed to pull off the Super Bowl in Detroit. Granted, Ford Field is an indoor stadium. But all the events and such that took place outside seemed to have had no problems.
Some are saying Beyonce was the greatest Super Bowl halftime show ever!
