Sandy Hook Students Record Song For Charity

With the tragedy of Sandy Hook Elementary still fresh in our minds, there are still many ways we can do to help.  While the students at Sandy Hook have a ton on their minds, they still have time to remember the students and friends there were lost.  Some surviving students, along with singer/songwriter Ingrid Michaelson, recorded their own version of “Over a Rainbow.”  The proceeds will go to charity.

According to, the students that were involved with the recording are not only doing it for charity, but doing it for the friends they lost.

Kayla Verga, 10, said she was singing for a friend, 6-year-old Jessica Rekos, who was killed in the massacre.

“Singing the song makes me feel like she’s with me and she’s beside me, singing along with me,” Kayla told “GMA.”
