Lil Wayne’s Label Home Steps To EDM
Baby of Cash Money Records is looking to up his roster’s BPMs. Cash Money, which birthed Lil Wayne‘s Young Money Cash Money Billionaires (YMCMB) imprint, is venturing into Electronic Dance Music with the latest singing.
The Stafford Brothers, the Australian EDM team, are the latest members of Cash Money family. Matt and Chris Stafford have been snapped up by the label that is known for its rap acts to help expand their brand. In a statement, Bryan “Baby” Williams said there was more to the relationship than music.
“The Stafford Brothers blew me away with their energy, superb production skills and strong remixes,” said Baby, who raps under the alias Birdman. “Their music may have a party vibe, but that didn’t fool Slim [Cash Money co-founder] and I. With their ownership of nightclubs, their own reality television show, international tours and dedication to their craft, we knew the Stafford Brothers were serious and would fit right in with the hardworking YMCMB family.”
With plans to release a Lil Wayne and Christina Milian collabo record, Matt and Chris Stafford are just as excited about the opportunity to work with Cash Money artsists such as Drake and Nicki Minaj.
“I think our sound is very energetic like we are in the way we perform and the music that we make,” the brothers told VIBE. “It’s definitely for the dance floor. We are very electronically influenced, plus the rap genre with its hooks works so well and has become part of our music.”
When asked about their new years’ resolution, Matt mentioned one more Cash Money artist he wants to work with. “I want to do more on these collabs, because that’s what it’s all about – getting the music out there,” he said. “I want to get Birdman on the record!”
