Dr. Dre “Phones” It In To Become The Worlds Highest-Paid Musician

Diddy, Jay-Z, and 50 Cent aren’t the only artists who have a reason to envy Dr. Dre‘s sound. Every musician bowed down to the headphone giant this year in terms of earning power.

Dr. Dre topped all earners on Forbes‘ “World’s Highest-Paid Musicians” lists for 2012, raking in an estimated $110 million. He left a wide gap between him and other heavy rap earners such as Diddy and Jay-Z, while besting other big name acts such as Elton John and U2.

In the time period between May 2011 – May 2012, Dre brought in $100 million pre-tax from his sale of his Beats headphone company to HTC. That alone put him atop all music earners, as Roger Waters came in a distant second with $88 million.

The positions in the top ten were dominated by pop acts and established hit-makers, including Elton John (No. 3), U2 (No. 4)  Taylor Swift and Paul McCartney (tied at No. 9) and Justin Bieber (No. 10).

Fellow rap mogul Diddy is the next rapper/producer to appear on the list at No. 15 with $45 million earned, while Jay-Z claimed the No. 20 spot, Kanye slipped into No. 22 with $35 Million earned.
