Kanye West will be adding his touch to Lil Wayne‘s I Am Not A Human Being II album, but not behind the boards. He will, however, be behind the look and packaging as the chief designer of Wayne’s album art.
Kanye will be overseeing Wayne’s album packaging through his design company DONDA. Wayne recently explained ‘Ye’s involvement this way:
“He didn’t do any music on this album but ‘Ye is actually packaging my album,” Wayne told MTV News. “You probably gotta ask him because it was his idea. I was just like ‘okay, do whatever,’ because I don’t do nothing but rapping. You can ask all the people that work with me, they’ll tell you ‘man, he don’t do nothin’ but the music,’ that’s all I do, man. That’s all I know about.”
In January, West announced his plans to start his design company DONDA, named for his deceased mother Donda West.
“DONDA is a design company which will galvanize amazing thinkers and put them in a creative space to bounce there dreams and ideas,” West tweeted back in January. “I am assembling a team of architects, graphic designers, directors musicians, producers, AnRs, writers, publicist, social media experts, app guys, managers, car designers, clothing designers, DJs, video game designers, publishers, tech guys, car accident lawyers, bankers, nutritionist, doctors, scientist, teachers…”
This will not be the first album art project taken on by DONDA. West also was responsible for 2 Chainz‘s art for his debut, Based On A T.R.U. Story, which included a simple two gold chains on a black background and was shot by photographer Fabien Montique.
Wayne’s tenth studio album, I Am Not A Human Being II, will hit stores February 19.
