For the record I don’t want to bash Lindsay Lohan because I like her, and I wanted Liz & Dick to be good.  However this was not the Lohan comeback she so desperately needs.  In the promo pictures and trailers leading up to the Lifetime TV movie, Lindsay Lohan looked amazing and it appeared that she could pull off playing the screen legend Elizabeth Taylor.  Boy was I wrong.

Let’s just say about 45 minutes into Liz & Dick I turned it off.  I recorded it so I may go back and watch it later to see if it picked up and how it ended.  The problem for me wasn’t so much Lindsay Lohan  although her performance felt a little empty,  but the actor who played Richard Burton Grant Bowler was horrible.  It was a mismatch of casting in my opinion, no chemistry and not steamy or believable enough for me.  The love story between Taylor and Burton in real life was so much more than these two actors could pull off.   The movie dragged which is why I turned it off.

Producer Larry A. Thompson wanted Lindsay Lohan for this role because he thought she could bring “magic” to the role — as well as a fan base unfamiliar with the earlier era of Elizabeth Taylor, who died last year at the age of 79.

Sorry Thompson but Lohan was not convincing as Elizabeth Taylor.  Did you watch Liz & Dick and if so what did you think?
