Timbaland Reveals Missy Elliott’s Comeback Track
It’s been a long wait, but it looks like Missy Elliott is ready for her comeback. Longtime producer and collaborator Timbaland says the groundbreaking rapper-singer-songwriter is gearing up to drop two new songs in time for the holiday.
According to Tim’s Twitter, Missy is gearing up for a Labor Day weekend release of a pair of tracks tentatively called “9th Inning” and “Triple Threat.”

While Missy has recently collaborated with J. Cole for his hit record, “Nobody’s Perfect,” her last album release was 2005’s The Cookbook. The five-time Grammy winner first came on the music scene with her game-changing 1997 debut Supa Dupa Fly, a work that effortlessly merged hip-hop and R&B over Timbaland’s genre-blurring studio sound.
Missy and Tim have collaborated on a string of classics over the years, including their work with deceased R&B singer Aaliyah. After the recent announcement of a posthumus Aaliyah album, the pair said they would not be a part of the production.
“Although Missy and Timbaland always strive to keep the memory of their close friend alive, we have not been contacted about the project nor are there any plans at this time to participate,” said Missy’s longtime manager Mona Scott-Young in a statement released to the press.
