I guess Ohio isn’t the only place that hates the University of Michigan! A 5 year old Oklahoma boy went to school this week wearing his favorite U of M t-shirt, and he was actually made to turn it inside out! While the shirt actually violated the Oklahoma City Public School dress code, his mom thinks it’s a bit crazy!
Cooper Barton is a diehard fan of the University of Michigan. And the other day, Cooper went to school with his “Big House” t-shirt on, and he was made to turn it inside out because it violated the dress code. According to Yahoo, the dress code prohibits any school apparel that isn’t within the state. The dress code was created in 2005 so that it would try to rid kids of wearing gang colors in school.
I am pretty sure a 5 year old isn’t representing gang colors. Cooper’s mom is pretty upset, too! We talked to her this morning about the whole situation:
And since mom, and other people that think this dress code is silly have made a fuss, the school system says they will revisit the dress code!
And the best part of the story is that the University of Michigan has actually commented on the whole situation! They think it’s crazy that the school’s dress code stopped Cooper from wearing his shirt, but was glad to see support of Maize and Blue all over the country. The U of M athletic director, Dave Brandon, actually had a special shirt made for Cooper that they will send to him!
We actually talked with Dave about the whole situation, including creating a special shirt just for Cooper!Vodpod videos no longer available.
