Rick Ross‘ recently released God Forgives, I Don’t features an all-star cast from Ross’ Maybach Music Group and beyond. The MMG boss recently explained how Andre 3000 added his contribution to the album and the forthcoming video for “Sixteen.”
Indeed, the talk around God Forgives, I Don’t has been positive, with such songs as “3 Kings,” featuring Dr. Dre and Jay-Z, the Wale and Drake featured “Diced Pineapples,” and the bruising “Pirates” heating up music blogs.
One of the standout results of God Forgives, I Don’t is “Sixteen,” collaboration with Outkast great Andre 3000 that will be receiving video treatment pretty soon.
“[Andre 3000’s] doing the background vocals, the singing, playing the guitar as well,” he told RapFix. “[When] I collaborated with him I wanted to give him the production that I felt could bring out some of that OutKast energy and what it actually resorted to was a record he titled by the name of ‘Sixteen.’ He loved the track that much that he went above and beyond. I salute him for that. He’s writing the treatment for the video.”
With bold name guest appearances and the general hype surrounding MMG, Ross’ fifth album sprung a leak before its (July 31) release date. Ross saw the glass as half full.
“You just really be grateful that it wasn’t three weeks out, two weeks out. It was less than a week, which really was one of the reasons why I didn’t play the album for a lot of people,” he said. “I wanted it to kind of saturate the streets. The response has been incredible. I’m hearing a lot of classic talk. Really, I’m just excited…here we are.”
